Counselling Centre for Children and Adults
Inner Focus is based in Long Stratton, about 10 miles south of Norwich on the A140. We provide Person-Centred Counselling and specialise in a model of humanistic counselling called Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapy. This approach is firmly grounded in research and is evidenced to be highly effective in achieving successful therapy outcomes. It is an embodied approach which enables clients to go beyond the surface level of a problem: to get a 'felt sense' of what's going on, and from this, to gain insight into what the problem is, where it comes from, and what it needs.
We offer talking therapy and creative interventions such as art, sand tray and body mapping. Each client is unique and has the choice of working in whatever way most appeals to them in the session. This may be talking through a situation and exploring what is happening and what the client is feeling in relation to the situation. Or it may be that the client prefers to physically represent what is happening in their life using art materials or the sand tray. Body mapping can be used to symbolise feelings and emotions and to give them an external physical expression in a form which can be seen as well as heard. Creative resources are a powerful medium for gaining further self-awareness and a sense of what needs to change.
Inner Focus has a separate room for working creatively. This room can be used by adults and children.
